The news coming out of yesterday’s January 6th hearing is devastating—which is further proof that this is an All Hands On Deck moment to protect our democracy.

It’s been easy to take democracy for granted in America, but as the January 6th Commission continues to reveal their findings, it’s more clear than ever: our fragile democracy is at a tipping point, and we must all work to protect it.

Yesterday, we learned more about how Trump and his inner circle worked with extremist groups in the leadup to January 6th and how they planned to overturn a free and fair election. The evidence is damning. But too many Republicans are still trying to pretend January 6th didn’t happen.

Yesterday’s hearings revealed that Trump and his advisors considered seizing state voting machines. He has created a party that is intent on eroding democracy by restricting voting rights and casting doubt on election results. Trump-aligned statehouses are now making it harder to vote in the midterm elections, gerrymandering congressional districts to further marginalize voters of color, and taking away the independent role of state authorities to certify election results in order to subvert free and fair elections in the future.

Our country depends on a functioning democracy—we need All Hands On Deck to protect it.

When we head to the polls in November, democracy will be on the ballot. It’s up to us to come together to ensure it doesn’t lose.
