Even Kanye Can't Escape the Ire of Anti-Christian Group

"Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted..." -2 Timothy 3:12

The Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) is at it again, and this time, their target is none other than Kanye West.

The FFRF, an atheist organization based in Wisconsin, is infamously known for sending threatening letters to local governments, public officials, schools, nursing homes, and others demanding that public
religious speech or expression cease. We've written to you in years past about FFRF efforts in multiple states to shut down religious expression. Some of their favorite targets are voluntary prayer before
meals at senior centers, nativity scenes in public locations, and coaches' presence during student-led prayers at athletic events. These baseless attacks have caused individuals to needlessly lose their job
because local groups want to avoid a lawsuit even if the actions were completely constitutional.

Most recently, the group turned their attention to recording artist Kanye West and two county jails in Texas, after a surprise performance by Kanye and his Sunday Service choir. According to a letter from the FFRF to the Harris County Sherriff, Ed Gonzales, the performance was an "egregious" constitutional violation-even if attendance was voluntary.

True to form, the FFRF offered nothing but threats to the jails and the inmates, because as we all know, it is easier to do nothing and to simply attack those who are doing something. Whatever you may believe about Kanye, the fact that Kanye's performance undoubtedly provided hope to those who need it most matters little to groups like the FFRF who are hellbent on making a point versus making a difference.

One thing is clear-continued attacks like this expose a growing anti-Christian sentiment in America led by the FFRF and others who wish to rewrite the First Amendment and prohibit our free exercise of religion.

Sadly, the FFRF's bully tactics have been successful at times because the majority of their targets lack the resources necessary to defend themselves in potential litigation. However, if you, your community, or someone you know receives a letter from the FFRF, please remember this-Family Policy Alliance® cares about your right to freely exercise your faith, and if the FFRF decides to sue, we are allied with legal entities that may be able to help you with your case pro bono.

Whether you are a celebrity like Kanye West, or an ordinary American, our Freedom OF Religion is guaranteed to us by the U.S. Constitution. Together, let's make sure it stays that way, for a state and
nation where religious freedom flourishes.

Thank you for standing with us!
