Hi there,

I’m [Yasmin Radjy]([link removed]), and I’m thrilled to share that, starting today, I’ll be leading the Swing Left team as the organization's new executive director!

I’ve been in awe of this community’s efforts from the outside for quite a while—from scheming with Swing Left group leaders about volunteer training in early 2017 as a co-founder of Resistance School, to knocking on doors (and grabbing post-canvassing pupusas and beers!) with Swing Left volunteers in Virginia, to co-hosting events with Swing Left teams in key 2018 House districts as I led Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s coordinated organizing efforts, to bumping into Swing Left volunteers at D.C. marches for causes from DACA to abortion rights. For years, you’ve been doing incredible work to inspire voters and to elect leaders who will do what it takes to create a better, more just future, and I’m proud and excited to be joining you in this work.

I’ve spent my career in grassroots organizing. From my early days mobilizing volunteers for the 2008 Obama campaign to working most recently in the Biden administration implementing the American Rescue Plan, I’ve seen that real change happens when we organize at the grassroots level—not just for a few weeks or months, but for long-term fights and long-term wins. That’s exactly why I’m excited to get back into electoral work by leading the team at Swing Left. This community’s mission to engage Americans in the political process in every single election—not just during presidential election years or when there’s an existential threat to democracy—is built on the same spirit of long-term, grassroots participation in building a stronger democracy.

The crises that we currently face are substantial: the GOP’s attack on reproductive rights, a rampant gun violence epidemic, the crushing economic impact of COVID-19, a rapidly worsening climate emergency, and the radical Right’s ongoing assault on voting rights and our democracy itself. We can achieve real, lasting progress on these tremendous challenges by building Democratic power at all levels of government—including winning Democratic majorities in state legislatures, electing Democratic governors, holding the Democratic majority in the U.S. House, and expanding the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate.

Ending these crises is within reach, but only if we continue building the infrastructure necessary to create and pass the progressive legislation it will take to address them.

To help our country achieve the promise of equal opportunity and freedom for all, and to defeat the dangerous rise of anti-democratic extremism, we need a robust people-powered democracy in this country—and I’ve seen firsthand that the Swing Left community is critical to making it happen.

To that end, I have three easy ways for you to take action today, friend:

- In order to help Democrats win competitive elections across the country, we need to get more folks off the sidelines. Can you commit to sending three friends or family members a link to join you in the work ahead? You can email them, message them on social media, or send a quick text with a link to [swingleft.org/join]([link removed]) or to find their nearest Swing District at [swingleft.org/targets]([link removed]).
- I’d love to hear from you! Reply to this email and let me know what’s giving you hope right now, or what Swing Left can do to help you stay involved and motivated as we head into this busy midterms season.
- Support competitive Democratic candidates up and down the ballot [with a donation to Swing Left’s National Impact Fund]([link removed]). 100% of your contribution is split directly between the most strategic, must-win midterm races.

I can’t wait to speak with you more in the coming weeks and months. There’s a lot of important work ahead of us, and with all this community has accomplished over the past six years, I know that together, we can absolutely get it done.

In solidarity,

Yasmin Radjy
Executive Director
Swing Left
