John -- Good health is critical. It determines whether you can work and provide for your family. Yet, Dan Sullivan voted to take away healthcare from tens of thousands of Alaskans. And he's repeatedly voted to strip coverage for preexisting conditions. Alaska's healthcare system is the most expensive in the world and it is preventing new businesses from coming to Alaska. Dan Sullivan has done nothing to control healthcare costs. How will we ever diversify our economy if we can't fix this problem? Alaskans deserve a senator who understands Alaska's healthcare system and is willing to fight for affordable and accessible care for all Alaskans. Unlike Dan Sullivan, I'm ready to prioritize fixing Alaska's healthcare system so we can make our state a better place to live and work. In order to make healthcare affordable, I'm going to balance Medicare so that it works for both patients and providers, and then offer Medicare as a public option for individuals and small businesses.This will invite new businesses to the state and will create competition in the healthcare markets which will drive prices down. Making Medicare a public option can and will work -- and when I'm your senator, I'm going to make it happen. That's a promise. And, I will work hard to negotiate drug prices directly with the drug companies so that pharmaceuticals are affordable. Dan Sullivan doesn't understand healthcare or its relationship to Alaska's economy. It's time to elect a senator who does. This is one of the biggest issues of our time.
