My heart is heavy for the victims, families, and the entire Highland Park community after the 4th of July shooting. As we mourn this incident and the gun violence of the last few weeks, it is clear that we need to act now to prevent future tragedies.

We’ve passed bipartisan gun safety legislation – the first in decades – into law, but we must go further.

Congressional Republicans do not have the courage to stand up for the American people. They have left us no choice. We cannot act to protect families until we end the filibuster.
