For centuries, people have risked everything seeking refuge on American shores to escape political violence. Yet, a corrupt president and his cronies nearly overthrew our government on January 6, 2020.

This was the highlight of today's hearing – the connection between a sitting president and the homegrown terrorists that rampaged through our halls of Congress. Here are a few notable moments from the hearing:

Pat Cipollone, who served as counsel to Trump, corroborated Cassidy Hutchinson's account of events.

The Big Lie began in November, but Trump and the members of the Treason Caucus began planning the bloody events of January 6 in December. On December 19, a tweet from Trump read, "Be there, will be wild!'

Four days after the electoral college confirmed Biden's victory, Rep. Jamie Raskin was presented with a document drafted by Trump's team outlining an executive order that would HAVE THE MILITARY SEIZE STATE ELECTION MACHINES.

We heard testimony from Oathkeepers and Proud Boys who unequivocally confirmed what we already knew: the mob was there FOR Donald Trump, and were willing to commit disturbing acts of violence in HIS name. The rally organizers were even aware the Capitol was the next stop after the protest.

What we've witnessed so far has been disgusting and clear evidence that January 6 was no spontaneous accident. On the same day that our democracy could've gone up in flames, the members of the Treason Caucus voted to validate this violence.
