Team,
I’m proud to announce that the Department of Energy has recognized that Toledo is ready to be a leader on workforce development on lead abatement and home weatherization.
I know we’re in the midst of summer fun, but it is never too early to start weatherizing and working to remove lead paint from our homes. The DOE is granting the Neighborhood Housing Services of Toledo $1.9 million to form the Toledo Healthy Homes Training Center.
Bolstering home weatherization in neighborhoods throughout Northwest Ohio will create more liveable, energy-efficient homes, and lower utility costs for families and seniors. Additionally, this project will help create desperately needed clean energy jobs in our community. But that’s just the start of this investment - this will be a full-service lead resource center, providing contractors with training space and curriculum, while serving as a hub for residents to find important information regarding lead abatement, remediation, and eligibility for weatherization programs.
I was honored to fight for this project, If we want to continue winning projects like this for our community, we need to keep the House out of the extremists' hands. Will you contribute $5 to our campaign today so we can continue our efforts to build up Northwest Ohio, one neighborhood at a time?
