keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The June NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the June edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of great stories from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. June was a busy month where we welcomed new businesses to Northeast Wisconsin, celebrated the ingenuity of our farmers, and thanked our veterans and first responders. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, New Clinic for the NEW Community: To kick off the month, members of my team attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the NEW Community Clinic, getting a sneak peek before their opening day. The clinic, which sees roughly 10,000 Wisconsinites a year, will serve community members who are uninsured or are unable to afford medical care in their new facility. Demo Farms Save the Bay: This month I hosted an event recognizing the leading role that Northeast Wisconsin demonstration farmers play in promoting conservation farming practices across the state and country. At the event we heard from conservation leaders like demonstration farmers Dan Brick of Bricksteaed Dairy and Duane Ducat of Deer Run Dairy, Whitney Prestby, a Natural Resource Educator with UW-Madison, Jeff Vander Wilt, Wisconsin's Acting State Conservationist, and Brian Preder from the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. Working on Water: My team also attended a water summit in Ashwaubenon hosted by Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, the Brown County Land and Water Conservation and Division of Extension offices, Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, and The Nature Conservancy. The event allowed municipal and elected officials to engage in conversations about surface and groundwater concerns, pollutants like PFAS and microplastics, flooding issues, and green infrastructure. Meeting our Heroes: We have no shortage of people willing to step up and serve our community and country here in Northeast Wisconsin. I had the honor of speaking at the Peshtigo Appreciation Weekend for Military Veterans and Front Line Workers to commemorate the incredible work they do for their neighbors and fellow Americans. Giving for our Community: Members of my team also attended the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Community Blood Donor Center. Summer is traditionally a slower time for blood donations, but there are always community members in need. Schedule your appointment to give blood at the Appleton Community Blood Donor Center HERE. 100 Years of Service: First opening their doors in January of 1922, The American Legion Post in Suring celebrated 100 incredible years of service to the veteran community this year. I had the opportunity to meet with some of the members, speak at the ceremony, and present the post with a Congressional Record, a document representing the official proceedings of Congress, to celebrate this important anniversary. A Public House: This month, my team also had the opportunity to welcome a new restaurant to Appleton. Mill City Public House had their grand opening on June 22nd, and in now serving up delicious bites and brews. Managing Your Money: My team attended the ribbon cutting of the brand new Bank of Luxemburg. It's great to see community banks like the Bank of Luxemburg expanding right here in Northeast Wisconsin. A Monumental Unveiling: And to finish off the month, my team attended the De Pere Memorial Monument Unveiling, honoring the service of Northeast Wisconsin veterans. Speakers at the unveiling included Wisconsin VFW commander Michele Rathke, De Pere mayor James Boyd, retired Army Major General Dan Ammerman, and state senator Andre Jacque.
