Representing our community in Congress has truly been the honor of my life — and I am incredibly grateful for this team, and your support over the last few years that has made it all possible.

In 2018, this team did what many told us was impossible. We overcame mountains of right-wing spending and defeated a four-term Republican incumbent, helping me make history as the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress.

We’ve come a long way since then. Over the last three years, I’ve had nine pieces of legislation signed into law under two different administrations. We lowered the price of generic insulin, lowered health care costs and premiums, passed a once-in-a-generation investment to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and combat climate change, and so much more.

We have a lot to be proud of, John, but I can’t stress this enough: None of it would have been possible without your support over the last few years.

Whether you volunteered for our campaign, put up yard signs, called your friends to make sure they voted, pitched in to support our campaign, or even just opened one of these messages, please know that our progress was only possible because of you. But as you know, our work isn’t finished yet.

Two weeks ago today, I officially became the Democratic nominee to continue representing Illinois’ 14th district in Congress — I’m running for reelection to continue our work to protect reproductive rights, reform a deeply unequal health care system, make life better for our working families and so much more. But I can’t do any of it without you.

Now that the general election is underway, I’m asking for your personal endorsement of my reelection campaign, John. Your support has made the difference time and again for our campaign — I’d love to know that I can count on you once again.

Political pundits are saying we’re in for a tough reelection battle, and they’re right. The National Republican Congressional Committee has named me a top target and they’re sure to throw plenty of resources behind my right-wing opponent.

But I know the strength of a large group of people determined to make our community a better place, I’ve seen it time and again from this team. If we stand together, I know we can win this race and continue building on our progress.

So from the bottom of my heart, thanks for endorsing my reelection campaign today, John. I couldn’t be more honored to have you on this team.
