Dollar General is the largest brick and mortar retailer in the U.S. It has so many stores that 75% of Americans are located within five miles of a Dollar General. Despite its success, the company is notorious for treating its employees poorly.

A jaw-dropping 92% of Dollar General employees make less than $15 an hour, and 22% make less than $10 an hour. Meanwhile, the CEO of Dollar General makes $1.7 million per year, which is a whopping 986 times more than the median wage of one of the company’s retail employees.

The company has more than enough profit to share – just not with the employees that actually make the business profitable. Dollar General regularly hands over profits with no strings attached to a handful of wealthy shareholders, funneling $12.2 billion into stock buybacks in the last decade.

Now, Dollar General staff are standing up against their exploitative employer by unionizing – and they need us to stand with them. Please, will you sign our petition to tell Dollar General to end low pay and unsafe working conditions?

In addition to poor pay, Dollar General workers also suffer under poor working conditions – including lack of air conditioning, mold, and buildings that do not meet fire code. By cutting corners and treating its employees so poorly, Dollar General has been more profitable than its competitors, which means it's even more attractive to shareholders who want to get rich off of the company.

Now that employees are demanding better pay and conditions, Dollar General executives have pulled every union-busting trick in the book – from intimidating and firing staff, to bringing criminal charges against staff that voted to unionize, to closing down entire stores when the union vote doesn’t go in their favor.

That’s why Civic Action is joining the fight: Alongside pro-worker organizations across the country, we’re calling out Dollar General executives – and we need you to join us.

Please, will you add your name to our petition now to stand with Dollar General employees?
