National Electric Infrastructure Formula Program*

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME), and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) are hosting a webinar to discuss the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, provide the opportunity to hear about the development of Michigan?s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure plan, and provide feedback.

*Background*

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, was signed into law on November 15, 2021, and is being administered by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation. As part of BIL,
$5 billion will be allocated for the NEVI Formula Program, which is focused on establishing a network across the country to accelerate the adoption of EVs, reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions, and position U.S.-based industries for global leadership in the vehicle electrification ecosystem. The NEVI Formula Program will provide funding to make the most transformative investment in EV charging in U.S. history that will lead to deployment of a nationwide network of 500,000 EV charging stations by 2030 that ensures a convenient, reliable, affordable, and equitable charging experience for all users.
