We know that headlines can pass by quickly, so here’s one piece of news you may have missed… Last month, in the wake of a tragic fire that left 12 people dead (including 9 children) in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood, Mad couldn’t sit idly by, and she introduced legislation that could save lives – the Public and Federally Assisted Fire Safety Act.
In order to prevent future fires in public housing complexes nationwide, we must implement critical safeguards to protect the millions of families that live in public or federally-assisted housing – and Mad’s legislation does just that.
The Public and Federally Assisted Fire Safety Act would finally mandate the installation of smoke alarms in public housing – putting up a new safeguard for our most vulnerable families.
