John,

Today, political observers are fixated on the testimony of Trump investigator Robert Mueller. Were I in Congress today, I would be with the growing number of House members who support impeachment hearings for this president. From obstruction of justice to using his DC hotel to shovel up big rents from anyone seeking favor, Trump has proven himself to be beyond shame.

Here in IL-07, I am constantly reminded, however, that Trump is not unique and he is not alone. Systemic corruption and leadership failures of multiple administrations and representatives have left our neighborhoods suffering from food deserts, gun violence, houselessness, and joblessness.

We recently pointed out that our local incumbent Congressman, Danny K. Davis, is padding his re-election campaign war chest with big PAC donations from pharma, insurance, and tech. The current campaign finance system is ridiculous! Even the “Keurig Dr. Pepper Inc. PAC” donated to Rep. Davis.

Along with nurses, teachers, attorneys, and engineers, guess the top occupation of donors to my campaign? That’s right - folks with no jobs are taking on this systemic corruption!

I know we need to keep growing our movement and that’s why I am asking you to forward this email or share this campaign on social media TODAY. We need to take the power back.
