Three weeks remain until statewide primary election
With three weeks remaining until the Aug. 2 statewide primary election, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson reminds voters that they have options to safely and securely cast their ballot. Early voting is now available with an absentee ballot from home or in person at a voter?s local clerk?s office. Michigan voters can also choose to vote in person at their polling place on Election Day.

?Whether you choose to vote with an absentee ballot, or in person on Election Day, clerks across the state stand ready to ensure you are able to safely and securely exercise your constitutional right,? said Benson.

Eligible Michigan residents can register to vote online until Monday, July 18, or at their local clerk?s office through 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters who are currently registered can vote from home by requesting an absentee ballot to be delivered to them by mail. They can make the request in person at their local clerk's office or online at Michigan.gov/Vote [ [link removed] ]. To ensure their ballot arrives in time, voters should request an absentee ballot by Monday, July 18 to avoid potential mailing delays. If voters choose to go in person to their local clerk's office, they can fill out their ballot and submit it in the same visit.

Voters can check the status of their absentee application or ballot online at Michigan.gov/Vote [ [link removed] ] or by calling their local election clerk. Voters who already received an absentee ballot should complete it, sign the back of the envelope and mail it or drop it off at their clerk?s office or drop box as soon as possible.

Michigan law regarding primary ballots requires voters to cast votes for only one party?s candidates. Votes for candidates in multiple parties on the same ballot will not be counted.

Absentee ballot request data shows more than 1.03 million Michigan citizens have now requested their ballots, and 1.02 have already received them.
