Brittany is building a true grassroots movement for change in Staten Island, one that is rooted in radical, accountable, disciplined hope that we can change and build toward true healing and restoration.
Her opponents call her policies radical. But is it radical to believe our elected representatives should fight for reproductive justice, police reform, living wages and healthcare? Or is that what is needed to meet the moment?
In an essay published on Independence Day, Brittany shared how she stays motivated to keep fighting, even when everything feels stacked against us:
"When you love something, you fight for it. When we have the hope and courage to be honest with ourselves and each other, we move in true love."
And Brittany IS fighting for us. On June 30th, she was arrested as part of a mass civil disobedience in front of the Supreme Court in Washington D.C., alongside BNC’s Melanie D’Arrigo and dozens of activists.
As an active duty service member, Brittany risked her career, facing investigations and threats of retaliation, for speaking out against the military industrial complex, forever wars, and corruption and abuse within the world’s most powerful military.
Brittany’s movement is electrifying her community, bringing out volunteers from all walks of life. Recently, a 102 year old woman participated in a Team Brittany phonebank!
