Support Our Work

As we look back on New York State’s 2022 legislative session, one thing is clear: LGBTQ+ New Yorkers won some major victories, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Your advocacy and support helped to:
Secure funding for the LGBT Health & Human Services Network

, ensuring that 70 organizations can continue to provide free and low-cost, affirming health care services to LGBTQ+ people statewide.
Create the Lorena Borjas Transgender & Nonbinary Wellness and Equity Fund, to support organizations led by trans, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) individuals and to help foster new leadership through capacity building. This makes New York only the second state in all of the U.S. to have a fund of this kind.
Want to keep up this positive momentum? There are many more ways to stay engaged and sustain our work.

You also helped us make significant progress, even with bills that didn’t pass. Your in-person and virtual outreach to lawmakers drew attention to the protection that TGNCNB people need while they are incarcerated.
Your efforts laid the groundwork for enshrining these protections in law with the Gender Identity Respect, Dignity, and Safety Act (GIRDS). Raising awareness of the need for GIRDS and how it would help to improve our community’s quality of life makes it much more likely for the bill to pass next year.
We’re proud of these wins, but we’re not done yet. In an election year, with a hostile Supreme Court, and a wave of state bills attacking trans existence and voting rights, we need everyone’s help to ensure New York State can remain a progressive leader and become an even more affirming home to LGBTQ+ people. Join the fight.

Are you ready for New York’s August primary election?

Registration Deadline: July 29
Election Day: August 23
The U.S. Congress and state Senate are the focus of next month’s primaries. With bodily autonomy, trans existence, and constitutional rights threatened nationwide, it is vitally important that we elect candidates who will strengthen rights and protections in New York State.

Responding to Roe v. Wade

The Supreme Court is responsible for ensuring more Americans have access to the health care they need, but in overturning Roe v. Wade, it has instead made a decision that perpetuates sexist, misogynistic, and antiquated ideals. We’re recommitting ourselves to continue defending our country’s fundamental rights.
