Tell Congress:
“Pass the Barbara Lee and Mark Pocan amendments to cut wasteful military spending and instead invest those resources in our families and communities!”

John,
Congress is expected to vote this week on a bloated military budget that is more than was requested by the Biden administration.
Why does Congress continue to feed the military industrial complex while telling us that we lack the resources to invest in basic human needs such as health care, child care, and housing?
Write to your representative right now and demand they cut the bloated military budget and instead spend that money on our communities, families, and working people.
Thank you for taking action today.

John,
This week, the U.S. House is expected to vote on a nearly $850 billion military budget.
This budget is $37.5 billion more than requested by President Biden and more than the one passed by Congress last year.
At a time when we’re told that we don’t have the resources to expand the Child Tax Credit, which last year lifted millions of children and families out of poverty, and we’re told we don’t have the revenue to prevent skyrocketing health care premiums and prevent millions of people from losing their health insurance at the end of this year―it’s outrageous that Congress is continuing to feed the military industrial complex.
Thankfully, Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Mark Pocan (D-WI) have introduced two amendments to lower the bloated military budget. One would reverse the $37.5 billion increase (that wasn’t even requested by the Biden administration!), and the second would slash $100 billion from the military budget and instead invest this revenue in our communities, families, and working people.
Before the U.S. House votes this week on a nearly $850 billion military budget, write to your representative and urge them to support the Lee-Pocan amendments to lower military spending and instead invest that revenue in human needs.

Handouts to the military industrial complex come at the expense of funding to address urgent human needs such as child care, housing, health care, and home care for the aging and people with disabilities.
Why do we seemingly have an endless supply of money for weapons and war while underfunding anti-poverty programs like nutrition programs for children and families?
We have an opportunity right now to cut military spending and invest that money directly into the needs of our communities. Click here to send a message to your representative right now!
Thank you for always fighting for the needs of working people, children, the aging, Black and brown communities, immigrants, and people with disabilities.
