PJIs Unique "Inside Out" Strategy

Did you know that PJI is the only legal defense nonprofit in America that in addition to representing and defending clients on issues of religious freedom, parental rights, and the sanctity of life, also serves states’ citizens by fighting state legislatures across the country to ensure unconstitutional or corrupt bills they introduce don't become unconstitutional or corrupt laws? Here are two examples...

First, the “outside” strategy.

For years, PJI has represented and defended the Church at Planned Parenthood (CAPP) in Spokane, Washington. CAPP is a pro-life ministry that confronts the barbarity of abortion. Founder and lead pastor, Ken Peters, conducts a church service once a month on public property in partnership with other churches near the Planned Parenthood (PP) center in Spokane. It’s always done in a Christian manner, decently and in order.

But PP has brought a lawsuit. According to Pastor Ken, “We are boldly against abortion and confront this atrocity with spiritual warfare. PP is now suing us, falsely accusing us of blocking and harassing their patients. But we start our services after hours. Nonetheless, PP is claiming our singing has caused trauma to people inside their building.”

Pastor Ken Peters went on, “When we received word of the lawsuit, we didn’t know who to go to. We made a few calls and we ended up becoming a PJI client. We are so thankful for PJI. Our lawyer has been just so wonderful. She understands what we’re doing; she gets it. She gives us advice and fights for us. We are so appreciative of her and the fact that we don't have to pay per hour like you would at a for-profit firm; it’s provided to us at no charge. And we are so thankful that when you talk to PJI, you feel that it’s a ministry. And it’s a ministry we can donate to. We give glory to God and thanks to Jesus with all of our heart for PJI.”

PJI will not stop until justice is done for Pastor Ken and the Church at Planned Parenthood.

Now, for the “inside” approach.

For 12 years, PJIs Center for Public Policy has assisted state legislators to enact laws that benefit all the states’ citizens. We’ve previously written about California Assembly Bill 2223 and our strong objection already lodged with the CA legislature to this barbaric, infanticide bill. We understand there was a terrific exchange last week in the Senate Health Committee, with CA State Senator Melendez finally asking hard questions the bill’s author could not answer! Specifically, would this bill protect butchers like convicted murderer and abortionist Kermit Gosnell?

When PJI stands firm in opposition to unconstitutional or immoral state bills, it shows lawmakers the full force and magnitude of our supporters, lending support which makes it easier for our allies in the legislatures to kill these kinds of wrongheaded and even depraved bills. Now this bill is in danger of not passing, which will ultimately protect many preborn lives. While the passage of AB2223 remains uncertain, PJI’s efforts are definitely making an impact.

PJI is the ONLY organization employing this holistic approach; and we do it all at no charge. And we believe we are perfectly positioned to fight and win the many battles still in front of us across the nation.
