Dear John

They’re still at it.

The race to succeed Boris Johnson is in full swing, but his legacy lives on. Conservative leadership hopefuls are still promising to rip up the Northern Ireland Protocol and break international law.

Don’t they realise their party needs a clean break with its recent past? The Northern Ireland Protocol Bill is already giving countries like Russia and China comfort that they can ignore international law because the UK does it too.

The last thing we need during the cost of living crisis is a trade war that will push up prices. What happened to levelling up the UK’s regions?

They are appealing to populist division rather than seeking pragmatic solutions. Instead of fostering unity, the candidates to be the next Prime Minister are sticking to Johnson’s populist agenda.

Tell your MP to oppose the Bill. Tell them to call out anyone standing to be PM who actively wants to break international law.

It is only by stopping the progress of this legislation that our relationship with the EU can begin to be repaired. Then and only then can we restore the UK’s international credibility, reduce the risks of a trade war with the EU and begin to find negotiated solutions that will genuinely work.

Click the button above to send a bespoke email to your MP in a matter of minutes - this small step could make a huge difference, and will show MPs across the political spectrum that even amidst all the chaos, sticking to the rules matters and is important to constituents.

Best wishes,

Naomi Smith
