Last week, my office announced our plan to match contributions to new DE529 Education Savings Plan accounts opened from now until the end of the year for children under five years old.
Over the past 30 years, the cost of college has increased by 225%. To afford the cost of higher education, it's become more important than ever to start saving for college early. So we're incentivizing parents to start saving before the age of six by rolling out this DE529 Education Savings Plan match.
Programs like this match program give parents a reason to start saving for college right away–because everyone in our state deserves access to the highest quality higher education institutions. Delawareans should have access to every opportunity they plan to pursue. And that's why my office is prioritizing financial literacy, financial planning, and financial security.
