When Lina Hidalgo was first elected Harris County Judge, she was the first woman and first Latina to be elected to that position, and only the second to be elected to the Commissioners Court.
As progressive Democrat without previous political experience, the task before her was no walk in the park: The Harris County Judge oversees a budget of nearly $5 billion and affects the lives of more than 4.7 million people.
But since taking office, Lina’s accomplishments have spoken for themselves.
She took bold action to support Texans throughout the pandemic by enacting health and safety measures, and championing economic relief . She has been a fierce defender of voting rights. And she has a bright, progressive vision for a Texas that works for all.
And while Republicans across Texas failed to step up and try to put an end to gun violence in our state, Lina Hidalgo has taken real action to fight for change in Houston.
But unsurprisingly, Republicans don’t like Lina’s vision, so they’re prepared to spend BIG to take her down.
