These seventeen Americans have been awarded the highest civilian honor in the country for their courage, leadership, and incredible accomplishments. They include former Congresswoman and gun safety advocate Gabby Giffords, Olympic Gold Medal winner Simone Biles, Gold Star father Khizr Khan, and late Arizona Senator John McCain, among others.

It’s critical to celebrate positive, inspirational leaders like these – and follow their example to fight for democracy against extremist Republican attempts to dismantle it.
