On August 24th, 2016, President Barack Obama proclaimed the Katahdin Woods and Waters Recreation Area to be a National Monument, writing that “Katahdin Woods and Waters is an exceptional example of the rich and storied Maine Woods, enhanced by its location in a larger protected landscape, and thus would be a valuable addition to the Nation's natural, historical, and cultural heritage conserved and enjoyed in the National Park System.” Join Lucas St. Clair, one of the primary forces behind the Monument and the President of Elliotsville Foundation , to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the Monument and learn more about how you can enjoy one of Maine’s most beautiful places.
