Friend,
Welcome to the Friday Five! Every Friday we share our top five
articles, stories, and quotes for you to read and share with your
friends and church families.
We
would be very grateful if you could make a donation of $100, $50, $25,
or $10 today towards our work producing these Friday Fives and
fighting for your values on the public square!
1. TOWNHALL: Cowardice and
Capitulation: The Shocking Things Chick-fil-A Funds
“Chick-fil-A has given a sizable
donation ($50k) to The Pace Center for Girls, yet another pro-abortion
organization. The education and advocacy group featured radical
pro-abortion feminist Gloria Steinem (the 'I Had An Abortion' activist
who declared that birthing children is the 'fundamental cause of
climate change') as their keynote speaker for their most recent girls’
Summit.”
2. ROLL CALL: Garland Tucker drops
Senate primary challenge to North Carolina’s Thom Tillis
"Retired businessman Garland Tucker
is not filing for Senate with the state Board of Elections on Monday,
dropping his primary challenge to North Carolina GOP Sen. Thom Tillis,
one of the most vulnerable Republicans up for reelection in
2020."
3. THE PUBLIC DISCOURSE: Compelled
Sexual Affirmation in the School Bathroom
"The case against compelled affirmation
policies needs to be more explicitly and vividly sexualized. The
argument against these policies must be rooted in the civil liberties
of objecting students and the right not be forced to be the object of
another’s sexual gaze. Opening intimate facilities to anyone of the
opposite sex imposes psycho-sexual trauma on countless non-consenting
youths, and constitutes a form of sexual exploitation."
4. N&O: New congressional
maps in North Carolina will stand for 2020, court
rules
"A three-judge panel ruled Monday that
new congressional maps passed by state lawmakers last month can stand
for the 2020 election. The court also opened filing for U.S. House
candidates.
'The net result is the grievous and
flawed 2016 map has been replaced,' Judge Paul Ridgeway said."
Monday marked the opening of the
filing period for the 2020 election.
5. NC VALUES: Happy Birthday Tami!
Today marks the birthday of our Executive
Director, Tami Fitzgerald. The team at NC Values is incredibly blessed
to work with someone whose leadership and tireless work ethic have
been a tremendous blessing to protecting pro-life, pro-family, and
pro-religious liberty values in our state.
If
you appreciate all the work Tami does defending your values in our
state, would you consider giving her the birthday gift of a $5, $10,
$25, $50, $75, $100, or more donation today to NC
Values?
WEEKLY PRAYER: LIFE
LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We
recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy crowned
creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is
that you would bestow upon us this blessing and
responsibility!
We pray LORD that we would not take this for granted. We pray
that both this great responsibility, and this great dignity, may
motivate us to love you more, love our neighbor more, and love
ourselves more.
LORD, we also lift our voices with hearts filled with
gratitude. Over this past year, we have labored and prayed for our
Celebration of Carolina Values event. We're overjoyed to say it was a
tremendous success, and we're grateful you made it so. May people have
left changed, may their fire for defending the unborn continue to
burn, and may we be good stewards of the financial investments they
made in us that day.
"And Moses said to the
people, 'Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of
the Lord, which he will
work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today,
you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and
you have only to be silent.'” (Exodus
14:13-14)
Amen
Will you chip in $100, $50, $25, or even $10 to help
