I was so alarmed by one of the Republican candidates at that forum, who said he wanted to see Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic Party leaders “in their graves,” that I reached out to the League of Women Voters’ staff to ask them NOT to release the video of the forum with those statements included.
They agreed with me that his language constituted a clear incitement to violence – a legitimate threat in the current political climate. They thanked me for reaching out and said they shared my concerns. And they assured me that not only would those comments be edited out if the video is released, but that they are working with their attorney to explore legal options.
Here’s the good news: We don’t have to give these violent extremists a platform on our ballot, folks. Washington’s top-two primary gives us a way to silence their violent, divisive rhetoric by making sure we defeat ALL the Republican candidates on August 2nd and secure one of the top two spots on the ballot for November.
We can sideline radical Republicans AND drive turnout to bolster the Democratic majority in the state legislature at the same time. But I need your help to get there.
We’ve knocked on well over 10,000 doors in this district, and we’re not slowing down. With five days left until ballots drop and people begin voting, I need all hands on deck. Can you pitch in $22 now to keep my team on the field?
Solidarity,
Jason
