When Mary Gay flipped this seat in 2018, she made a promise to fight for commonsense gun safety because our community, and the country, can’t wait any longer.
She’s delivered on that promise every single day in Washington.
Our team got together to lay the groundwork for our 2020 strategy, and we thought about all the work we’ve done to follow through on the promises Mary Gay made to you. (So much so that she’s earned an F rating from the NRA.)
One of the first hearings in the House Judiciary Committee, where Mary Gay serves as Vice Chair, was about the threat that gun violence poses to our communities. Following that hearing, Mary Gay joined her colleagues in voting for bipartisan commonsense gun safety measures, including legislation to improve and expand background checks, close the Charleston Loophole, and fund CDC research. She also led the floor debate to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which included new measures to close the Boyfriend Loophole.
Mary Gay’s F rating is proof of her steady commitment to ending this violent epidemic -- but that same rating means national Republicans and the NRA will do whatever it takes to stop her from continuing this fight.
GOP outside groups are already attacking us, and we have a pro-Trump super PAC planning to outspend us in PA-05. All of the progress we’ve made on gun safety is at risk if we don’t stand up to their right-wing attacks.
We can’t stress enough how important it is that we build the resources we need early -- that’s why we’re asking you to help us today. Our last FEC filing of the year is at the end of the month, and we need to show that our team is strong enough to withstand GOP attacks.
But right now, we’re still VERY short of our end of quarter fundraising goal. Everything the 116th Congress has accomplished is on the line, and MG is not done working for PA families.
