We’re only five days away from the 2022 Texas Democratic Convention, and our team has been hard at work putting together the biggest party in the state! As we’re nearing the kick-off on July 14th, I wanted to take a second to introduce myself and tell you a bit about what we have in store. You can get a sneak peek here!
My name is Drew Corbitt, and I am honored to be the Digital Director for the Texas Democratic Party. I’m a lifelong, multi-generational Texan. I’ve lived all over the state -- from Mexia and Denton, to Longview and Leander.
As a first-generation Texas Democrat, my journey to find this community means a lot to me. Growing up as a conservative evangelical, I eventually came to discover how incompatible my politics and my faith were. All along I was looking for a place that cares for the most vulnerable of my neighbors and boldly speaks out against those who would use their power to oppress others. But that place was not in the church. It was here, in our Democratic movement.
As a husband and a father, I believe we have an obligation to leave a better community, a better state, a better nation, and a better world for those that come after us. And Friend, the future my kids are set to inherit is not one I’m willing to accept.
Their freedom to have control over their bodies, their freedom to be their true selves, their freedom for their voices to be heard in our democracy, even their freedom to live on a habitable planet -- they’re slipping away.
We can’t let that happen, Friend. That’s why I’m dedicating every day to laying a strong enough foundation for future generations to build greater things than we can even imagine.
The next biggest step toward building that future is the November 8th midterm, and our fight toward the election begins in earnest this week in Dallas at the Texas Democratic Convention. So will you chip in $7 right now to help us lay the groundwork for Election Day next weekend?
