God Calls Us, His Church, to Defend Every Life
|
|
I have a son named Max. He’s 29 years old … he’s awesome … and he has a diagnosis of autism. Nothing has been simple or easy in our lives, but God has made it beautiful.
I’ve been a single mom to Max for most of those 29 years, which means I drink a lot of coffee! It also means God has given me a beautiful perspective on life – on the value of every life.
God calls us, His church, to defend life. But I want to ask a hard question: Will the church be able to defend life if the church is not yet able to sit beside that very same life for an hour in the pew on Sunday?

Couples and Conflict
“So not only are you late for dinner, but once again you come home and head straight for the mail,” Leslie complained to her husband, John. “It’s unbelievable! Maybe I should become a piece of mail and put a stamp on my forehead. Then I might get some attention.”
John rolled his eyes and sighed, continuing to sort through envelopes. Here we go again, he thought.
Leslie’s anger intensified. “John, don’t ignore me.”
John walked away. “I’m going to the gym.”

The Aeronauts (PG-13)
It’s 1862, a time of discovery and hot-air balloons. Scientist James Glashier is certain that if he could fly high enough, he could unlock the secrets of weather itself. So he recruits local balloonist Amelia Wren, and together they set off to make history. If, that is, they can stay alive.
