Democrat,
This is a win-win. This is a proud and important moment for New Jersey and our Democratic Party.
This week, Governor Phil Murphy was just elected to serve as the Chair of the Democratic Governors Association. Not only is this a great achievement for our state party, it's a victory for Democrats across the country.
By electing Governor Murphy to head the DGA in the most important election year in our lifetime, every other Democratic governor in America is saying yes to our progressive, pro-growth agenda. These other governors know, that after the failed years of Chris Christie, Governor Murphy and New Jersey’s Democratic Party are a national model for great policy and great politics.
Under Governor Phil Murphy’s leadership, we have made incredible progress over the past two years in building a state that is stronger and fairer for all of us. Our party has turned red counties blue and strengthened our grassroots. Now, we are excited to share our successes and strategies with the entire country.
Governor Murphy’s record is exactly why he was elected to be the leading voice in helping the DGA secure monumental victories in 2020. From championing gun safety reform, and increasing education funding, to enacting a $15 minimum wage and expanding paid family leave, New Jersey has bounced back from eight years of disastrous governing to become a national leader in state policy. And as the Chair of the DGA, Governor Murphy can build partnerships with other states on issues from protecting the environment to job creation that will benefit New Jersey.
Democratic Governors now represent the majority of Americans, even winning seats in 9 states that Trump took in 2016. Congratulations Governor Murphy! We look forward to working with you to continue your record of progress.
Sincerely,
NJDSC Chairman John Currie
Vice Chair Peg Schaffer
