Imagine winning the presidency. But losing.

What do I mean? Imagine it's 2024, we all turn out, vote Democratic and win a huge electoral majority.  Then state legislatures around the country convene and decide they disagree, overrule the voters and send their electoral slates for Donald Trump, Michael Flynn or Marjorie Taylor Greene to Washington.

This is not fiction. I wish it were. The same Supreme Court that forced a 10-year old little girl to leave Ohio so she wouldn't have to carry a rapist's child has agreed to take a case, Moore v Harper, that could end with their declaring state legislative supremacy. A ridiculous and radical notion, authoritarian to its core, this would mean the will of gerrymandered Republican state legislatures can decide which electoral votes count, no matter for whom their constituents voted.

It is pure insanity. And it absolutely could happen.

Can you please join me, Stacey Abrams, Michelle Obama and other concerned Democrats in doing all we can to "keep it," by supporting the DLCC right now with a donation of $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford?

This is why even though it's not as sexy nor as covered on cable news, WE MUST win control of as many state legislatures as possible. It means supporting the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), tasked with helping win state legislative seats across the country.

Stacey Abrams and Michelle Obama just launched a huge campaign to raise funds for the DLCC, and we'd like to do our part to pitch in to winning these crucial races, which could determine if Republicans or Democrats control  the state senate in Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, Oregon and Nevada, the state house in Alaska and both the state house and state senate in Maine.

I can't stress how important it is that we take these chambers--all within a few seats of going either way. It not only builds a bench of talent (President Obama got his start as a state senator) and decides important policies in the states, but can be a xxxxxx against Republican attempts to corrupt the 2024 election, declaring themselves victors when they lose the popular and electoral vote.

As Benjamin Franklin walked out of Philadelphia's Constitution Hall in 1787, an onlooker asked him whether we'd be "a republic or a monarchy." Franklin's rejoinder has echoed across time: "A republic. If you can keep it."

Can you please join me, Stacey Abrams, Michelle Obama and other concerned Democrats in doing all we can to "keep it," by supporting the DLCC right now with a donation of $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford?

Thank you for your tireless devotion to democracy.
