The Tacoma Pride Festival is today, and I'm happy to say that a lot of Team Kilmer will be there! This summer, we brought on a lot of Democracy Summer Fellows and new interns to help elect Democrats up and down the ticket this November.

As you might know, I'm a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and our campaign has had the chance to work with a group of LGBTQ+ fellows and interns who are fired up about re-electing Derek this year!

Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to stand with leaders like Derek who are fighting to defend LGBTQ+ rights and liberties in Congress. It's no secret that there has been an increase in recent anti-LGBTQ+ attacks. From the "Don't Say Gay" bill in Florida to the various copy-cat bills that have followed in other states, and even attempts to criminalize parents who seek gender-affirming care for their children.

A proud original co-sponsor of the Equality Act, I know Derek will never stop fighting back against these regressive and harmful attacks on our community.

That's why the choice this election year is clear – it's crucial that we elect Democrats like Derek Kilmer, because our democracy and our basic freedoms depend on it.

Our interns and summer fellows have been hard at work knocking on doors, talking to voters, and encouraging our community to VOTE this August and November.

We're counting on you to turn out and make your voice heard by using your vote to say NO to these far-right attacks. We can't afford to lose our majority in Congress – or Derek's leadership – which is why it's important to double and triple-check your voter registration ahead of time.
