Governor Hogan Announces Record Police Funding As He Honors Law Enforcement
<[link removed]>

Governor Hogan continues to be a national leader on supporting law
enforcement. This week, the Governorcommemorated
<[link removed]>
the 100th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Police Department, paying
tribute “to all of the proud members of the thin blue line who selflessly place
themselves in harm’s way and who do so—willingly and bravely—so that our
communities can be safer.”

When progressive politicians were advocating defunding the police, Governor
Hogan was the first leader in the nation to announce a Re-fund The Police
initiative, successfully passing $500 million of additional funding into law
enforcement. Just yesterday, Governor Hoganawarded
<[link removed]>
a record $122.5 million in funding under the State Aid for Police Protection
(SAPP) program. Another key plank of his Re-fund The Police initiative, this
funding provides police officers with expanded resources to support operational
costs and to help keep communities safe.

Governor Hogan Hosts Venezuela’s Legitimate, Pro-Democracy Ambassador At
Maryland State House
<[link removed]>

Governor Hogan is continuing to show his clear support for freedom and
democracy in Latin American and across the world.

Earlier this week, he hosted <[link removed]> Venezuela’s Ambassador to the US
Carlos Vecchio at the Maryland State House. Vecchio represents President Juan
Guaido in Washington, who is recognized as the legitimate leader of Venezuela
by the nation’s National Assembly and more than 60 governments including the
United States.

In March, Governor Hogan met
<[link removed]>
with Cuban, Venezuela, and Nicaraguan pro-Democracy leaders and activists in
Miami. During the visit, Governor Hogan made a clear statement condemning
Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro as the Biden administration makes overtures
to his regime. According to Governor Hogan, “the energy crisis cannot be solved
by robbing the people of Venezuela of their dreams of freedom. That’s not what
America stands for. Maduro makes common cause with Putin because he is a
vicious dictator, not an American ally.”

Deeply saddened by Prime Minister Abe’s assassination. We met early on in my
time in office & it was clear how committed he was to the U.S.-Japan alliance.

Maryland extends condolences to the Prime Minister’s family & to the people of
Japan on the loss of this visionary leader.pic.twitter.com/MvFGVtYi0H
