Now, things are going from bad to worse: If SCOTUS rules in favor of the state legislatures, which they’re anticipated to do, then partisan, gerrymandered state legislatures will have complete control over running elections in their states.

Harsh Reality: If state legislatures have complete control over their elections, the checks and balances of the governor and state courts will no longer apply. Republican state legislatures will be able to gerrymander with impunity. They will be able to throw out or invalidate votes that go for the candidate that they don’t want to win.
