After 5 years of incredible work in the progressive space, Open Progress has made the hard decision to shut down its Text Troop. We didn’t make this call lightly, but it is the right one for where we as a movement are today. Before we go, we want to take a moment to celebrate you, and all the incredible work you have done in community with us since we kicked off on an email list and baby Slack channel oh-so-long-ago:
* 5000 vaccine appointments in our Let's Protect efforts
* 55,588,772‼️ texts sent
* Over 400 candidates supported
* Nearly the entire US geography of citizens we've talked with


We could not have done this without every single one of you. Whether you QCed 100 texts, power-texted your way to the 100,000 mark, or gave $1, this was a Troop inspired by what we could do together, as a collective, and it never strayed from that. Text Troop was a safe harbor for so many in the storm from 2016-2020, and I know we’re all grateful for it.

What to do now? Well, we can say what we hope for: that you’ll take what you’ve learned alongside us and use it to build up and support other organizations that need your passion, your skills, and your innovation. Never one to leave our fearless Troop in the lurch, we do have some ideas for where else to go hunting, so we made a list of them ([link removed]) :)

We can’t wait to see what change you bring to the organizations and candidates you put your shoulder to the wheel for in the years and months ahead. If there is anything that this journey has solidified, it’s truly that people power can move mountains. You did.
