Welcome to The Agenda (yeah - THAT agenda), your weekly update on what's happening in the LGBTQ political world. Whatever you do, don’t forward it to Mike Pence. He doesn't need to know what we're planning! Forward it to a friend instead.
Overview: Big wins in Georgia, more 2020 endorsements and a new slate of LGBTQ candidates!
ELECTION NIGHT: VICTORIES!
Great news from two of our 2019 runoffs in Georgia: both Joseph Geierman and Kurtis Purtee WON their races!
Having defeated a longtime incumbent, Kurtis Purtee will claim his seat as the first openly LGBTQ member of the Savannah City Council. Congratulations!!
Joseph Geierman, now the first openly LGBTQ Mayor-elect of Doraville, won by a landslide. He took a minute to thank supporters on Election Night. Watch the video here!
ELECTION NIGHT: RESULTS PENDING
Spotlight candidate Eliz Markowitz (Texas House District 28) sat down with the Two Broads Talking Politics podcast to discuss her runoff race and plans to beat her self-funding opponent. Give it a listen!
Early voting has begun for our two runoff candidates in Houston: Shelly Kennedy (Houston City Council, District C) and Isabel Longoria (Houston City Council, District H).
Shelley joined Fox26 Houston to make her case for voters.
To make her pitch, Isabel detailed her year-round plan for how she’d serve her constituents and her top priorities. Watch the video here!
Having gathered enough signatures to launch a citywide recount, Alejandra St. Guillen is now calling for volunteers to act as trained observers for the recount. If you’re in New England, you can sign up here to help out!
SO! MANY! ENDORSEMENTS!
The 2020 elections wait for no one, including LGBTQ candidates. We announced our 76th endorsement for the 2020 cycle yesterday: Mary Washington for Baltimore Mayor. When she wins, she’ll be Baltimore’s first openly LGBTQ mayor!
We’re getting ready to elect Sarah McBride in Delaware. McBride will be the first openly trans state legislator in United States history and join a small but mighty group of openly trans electeds currently serving.
We also announced six endorsements for the state legislature in Florida, including Shevrin Jones' campaign to become the first openly LGBTQ state Senator in the state. We can double LGBTQ representation in the Florida legislature in 2020!
We also endorsed eight LGBTQ candidates for the state legislature, including incumbents Park Cannon, Karla Drenner, Sam Park, Renitta Shannon and Matthew Wilson!
2020 VISION
In huge news: Pete Buttigieg added a key endorsement. VoteVets is standing with Team Pete. This is the second national organization to endorse Pete (us being the first, of course).
Victory Fund caught up with Game Changer candidate Bryce Bennett for an update on his campaign to be Montana’s first openly LGBTQ statewide officeholder in his groundbreaking run for Secretary of State.
Another key endorsement for Game Changer candidate Ritchie Torres: BOLD Democrats, the PAC arm of the Committee for Hispanic Causes, is officially backing his campaign!
Meanwhile, Game Changer Congressional candidate Mondaire Jones spoke with NowThis about his journey from the projects to the White House, and how it influenced his desire to confront societal injustices. Watch the video here.

Paid for by the LGBTQ Victory Fund and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.
LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
