Weekly Recap: July 8, 2022

Hi Team,

We are just 11 DAYS away from Primary Election Day — but early voting has already begun!

Over the last few weeks it's become clearer than ever that John and Michelle have the grassroots support and momentum to win this race, but it all comes down to next 11 days. As of now, there is record low turnout in the early vote period and 20% of likely voters here in Maryland are still undecided — that means we have the chance to gain thousands of more votes! If you can, will you consider giving $50, $20, or just $5 now to help spread our message through TV, digital ads, and more? [link removed]

Keep scrolling to read more about our last few days since the July 4th parades, and find out what we're up to next!

Thank you,
Team King

In the News

WBAL: Maryland Democratic gubernatorial candidate profile: John King
"King and Siri have introduced what they call 'One Baltimore,' a plan to help the city by reviving the Red Line light rail project that Gov. Larry Hogan scrapped, finish the Purple Line project and creating a state bank dedicated to funding projects in Baltimore and reimagining public safety. 'We will reimagine public safety by recognizing that policing alone is not enough,' King said. 'We need policing plus mental health and eviction services. Policing plus real investment in safe streets and other violence prevention programs.' "

MARYLAND MATTERS: Political Notes: More Climate Talk
"According to his campaign, King is alone among the Democratic candidates in proposing a 'Green New Deal' and opposing all natural gas pipelines, in pledging that Maryland will only use clean electricity by 2030 and will hit net-zero carbon emissions by 2035, and in promising to close the Wheelabrator plant and the Curtis Bay medical waste incinerator in Baltimore.
King said his opponents are 'not willing to commit to the bold actions that we need to tackle the climate crisis' at a time when 'it has never been more important for the state of Maryland to lead.' "
