BY HANNAH BECK, DOMINIK DRABENT and CHRISTINE CABUSAY | In 2020, the number of young people who cast a vote in the presidential election increased by 11 percent compared to 2016, marking one of the highest rates of youth voter turnout. Now, as the U.S. is reckoning with the overturn of Roe v. Wade, a series of recent polls show gender equality and women’s rights are among the most important issues capturing the interest of young people—and may serve as a catalyst for the anticipated record-breaking election coming November.

BY PHOEBE KOLBERT | In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 24 ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, state lawmakers are now free to craft their own abortion regulations, subject only to each state constitution—meaning state-level litigation and legislation has become the new frontlines for reproductive rights and access.

 

As a result, abortion laws are changing daily, as legislatures across the U.S. pass new protections or strip away existing ones. We are keeping track of the changing landscape, and will continue to update this piece as state policies continue to morph and change.
