John, as a nurse, I’ve dedicated my life to improving the health and well-being of Missourians.

From caring for abandoned children to administering COVID-19 vaccines, I have found meaning in helping my friends and neighbors get the care they need. Now I want to take that spirit all the way to the U.S. Senate to deliver affordable, high-quality care to families all across the country.

You see, during my time as a nurse, I learned that we can only give patients the best possible care when we lead with compassion, kindness, and honesty. But I also learned that providing quality care at an individual level is not enough to actually fix our healthcare system and make care affordable for all.

Right now, our healthcare system is failing so many families. Insurance companies are getting away with charging way too much, and families are struggling to find high-quality care. The system isn't working, and we need bold action to fix it.

Congress took an important step forward when it passed the expanded tax credit within the American Rescue Plan. Enrollment in marketplace plans jumped, and premiums dropped. The result? More people were insured under affordable, high-quality plans that helped keep their families healthy and cared for.

But even as the costs of basic necessities continue to rise, those tax credits are set to expire at the end of the year – and Washington is refusing to act.

This isn't a complicated issue: No family should have to choose between their health and their wallet. That is why I am calling on Congress to make this expanded tax credit permanent.

In the Senate, you can count on me to be an advocate for expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare. I will never be scared to stand up to insurance executives or their lobbyists. I will put you and your health first, every time.
