Hi John.

I hope you and your family are well. I wanted to take a minute to share some of the things we’re working on to serve hardworking Kansans and rebuild our economy.

Serving You: New Pop Up Office Hours

My job is to serve everyone – regardless of party. And one of the best ways we can help folks is by serving them closer to home, which is why we like to host Pop Ups around the Kansas Third District.

At these Pop Ups we can help folks who are having issues with the federal government. That includes everything from backlogged veterans’ benefits, to stalled passports, to issues with Social Security and Medicare, and more.

Do you need help? We’re having a new Pop Up next week in Spring Hill on Wednesday, July 13th, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM. Click here to schedule an individual 15-minute appointment with our team.

We’ve now helped 3,603 hardworking Kansans since I took office. We’ve also helped return more than $9.5 million owed to local taxpayers. We’d be honored to help you, too.

More Pop Ups are coming up soon. You can also visit davids.house.gov/help to learn more about how we can serve you, or call us in Overland Park at (913) 621-0832 or in KCK at (913) 766-3993 to get help right away.

Rebuilding Our Economy

I know a lot of folks are understandably concerned about inflation and the state of our economy these days.

That’s why I’m focused need concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future with more jobs and lower prices. The last thing we need is more extremism and empty promises.

Strengthening our workforce training programs is just one great example of how we can do that.

It was great to check-in with construction apprentices in Overland Park. The Registered Apprentice Program helps place workers in jobs at Shamrock Trading Corp.

Apprenticeships help Kansas businesses fill in-demand jobs. By supporting Kansas workers and making more here at home, we can better compete against countries like China and tackle inflation.

That’s why I’m working with Republicans and Democrats on a bipartisan bill to secure our supply chains. Our bill expands the Registered Apprentice Program, which places workers in jobs at dozens of companies across the Kansas Third District.

And as Vice Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’m continuing to focus on rebuilding our roads, bridges, railways, and more. It’s about rebuilding our economy and making our communities safer.

We just released a new investigative report on how the bipartisan infrastructure law helps boost community safety. Click here to watch a local Fox4 clip to learn more.

Kansas had the second largest increase in pedestrian fatalities from 2019 to 2020. The bipartisan infrastructure law I helped pass invests in safe streets and road programs.

I worked alongside both Republicans and Democrats to pass the new bipartisan infrastructure law – which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said is fiscally responsible. And now it’s beginning to deliver results, including by making Kansas streets safer.

Making a Difference for Kansans

My job is to listen to Kansans and advocate for their priorities in Washington.

So today I’m pleased to share that 15 community projects just cleared a key hurdle for federal support. These are crucial investments in our local police, infrastructure, and health care.

Please click here to learn more about how these projects will make a difference.

I voted for a bipartisan law earlier this year that supported 8 local projects in our district. That includes investing in a Backup Engine Generator to improve emergency preparedness at WaterOne’s Ralph Wyss Pumping Station, which serves 400,000 residents in Johnson County.

The House Appropriations Committee approved 15 projects supported by my office. These projects passed detailed reviews, met significant standards for return on investment, and were submitted alongside state and local officials.

They include support for the Olathe Police Department’s Mobile Command Post. They’ll also invest in local infrastructure, including upgrading the traffic-heavy College Boulevard Bridge in Overland Park.

I’ve long fought for responsible budget policies to protect taxpayers, like pay-as-you-go budget rules. These investments maintain that commitment to fiscal responsibility while making a difference for Kansas.

As always, it is an honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you have any questions or would like to share your views, please feel free to contact me.

My warmest regards,
