That shouldn’t be a political statement, but now that a radically conservative Supreme court has overturned Roe and Wisconsin Republicans have doubled down on their attacks on abortion access it has to be.

Team, I have seven grandchildren who are girls and young women. The Supreme Court’s dangerous decision just stripped them of their fundamental rights as equal citizens. I think that’s bullshit.

That’s why Attorney General Josh Kaul and I filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin’s archaic 1849 abortion ban. And I’m not the only Democratic governor fighting back.

In Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer filed a lawsuit and used her executive authority to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to ensure Michigan’s arcane 1931 ban never goes back into effect. And in New Mexico, Nevada, and Illinois, they’ve signed legislation guaranteeing the right to an abortion in their states.

We’ve made progress to protect our states from these shameful Republican attacks, but this fight isn’t over. And I need backup.

This year, there are 36 governors' races across the country, and the stakes have never been higher. If we lose, far-right radicals will jump on the chance to take away reproductive freedom and push their dangerous agendas.

We can win if we take action TODAY.
