NPR:

“The first Gen Z candidates are running for Congress”

- July 6, 2022

John, you might have seen me on NPR the other day, but I wanted to reach out to you directly.

I’m a 25 year old organizer, and I have an unprecedented chance to make history and become the first Gen-Z member of Congress.

Our generation has been shaped by political upheaval and trauma. Growing up, I was irreversibly shaped by what was happening around me.

Turning on the TV and seeing a bunch of people sleeping outside of Wall Street talking about something called 'wealth inequality' – seeing that in elementary school.

Growing up learning that 30 minutes away from me, a kid that looked like me who was wearing a hoodie was murdered for being Black and seeing the outrage after that.

Watching the news of the Sandy Hook shooting unfold while eating with friends before a high school band concert.

I’m not running for Congress as a career move or because I’m being propped up special interests. I’m taking the risk to run for office because there is a problem to fix.

John, it’s time to bring the next generation and our experiences to the table. Will you join me in making history by pitching in $27 today before my End of Week deadline in 9 hours? >> ([link removed])

Gen-Z is one of the most politically-active generations in decades. We’ve marched, we’ve engaged in mutual aid, and we’ve lobbied for change.

Now, we’re running for office because we believe that we are prepared to be in the rooms and to be the voice for our communities. We can do that and young people should be allowed.

But the Democratic Party has not done enough to support younger voices– despite us being the undeniable future of our government.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party is throwing their full weight (and financial support) behind young radical Madison Cawthorn-types in a desperate attempt to sway the future of this country.

John, I don’t have a wealthy network or political dynasty money behind me. I’m running a 100% grassroots campaign, and I need your help to win this thing.

My End of Week deadline is only 9 hours away, and I still need to raise $7,129 to fund critical voter outreach. Can I count on you to pitch in $27 today? >> ([link removed])
