Dear members and allies,
On Tuesday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m., we’ll be holding a press conference on the State House steps, calling on our elected officials to swiftly address the need for a low-income fare at MBTA.
We’ll be joined by Senator Lydia Edwards and Representative Adrian Madaro, two champions of public transit, as well as workers and riders from the Public Transit Public Good Coalition.
The Senate and House of Representatives plan to wrap up several important bills this month. That is why we are charging up our call on Gov. Charlie Baker and the Legislature to sign low-income fare provisions into law.
We need our officials to act! Beacon Hill must pass legislation creating a low-income fare program at the MBTA before the session ends in July. And outgoing Governor Baker must sign the program into law, not continue to obstruct affordability at the MBTA.
After the press conference, PTPG representatives will deliver our petition to leadership in the State House. If you haven’t signed yet, it’s not too late to add your name to our petition and send an email to your legislators.
Thank you for standing with the riders and workers of the Public Transit Public Good Coalition! Visit PublicTransitPublicGood.org to learn more and get involved.
In Solidarity,
Lee Matsueda
