VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - DOWNTOWN FRIDAY

Downtown Friday is July 26^th and we need volunteers to man our booth for the following shifts:
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE WATCH PARTY

The Democrats of Indian River Club will host a Democratic Presidential Debate Watch Party on Tuesday, July 30th from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Irish American Club, 1314 20th St., Vero Beach. Admission will include pizza, tossed salad and dessert. The debate starts at 8:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm. There will be an hour and a half prior to the debate for eating, social networking and just plain letting the gravity of the 2020 presidential election sink in. Let’s get together, have some fun, examine our candidates, talk about policies and get excited about what we must do to win in 2020. VAN TRAINING

Alex Berrios will again be conducting VAN (Votebuilder database of all Florida registered voters) training at our office on July 30^th at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending one of these trainings, please call the office at 772-226-5267 to register.


NEW DEC CHAIR

Congratulations to Adriana de Kanter on being unanimously elected as the new DEC Chair! Adriana has been the Acting Chair for the last few months and has done an amazing job leading the Democrats of Indian River. We are lucky to have her. Congratulations, Adriana!

VICE CHAIR OF OUTREACH NEEDED

We are looking for a new Vice Chair of Outreach. If you are interested, please stop by the office to pick up an application. The position will be elected on August 15^th at a Special Meeting preceding the regular DEC Meeting at 6 pm.

“WHY I’M A DEMOCRAT”

STATE CONVENTION

The 2019 Florida Democratic Party State Convention will be October 11-13 at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando. If you would like to be a delegate for Indian River County, please contact Stacey at for an application. The deadline to receive applications at our HQ office is July 31^st.

Candidate and Campaign Staff Training

The Martin County DEC is hosting a Candidate and Campaign Staff Training with Kevin Winchell in Stuart on August 3^rd. If you are thinking of running for office or working on a campaign, please consider attending. Details below:

Voter Suppression

Brandon Peters, who now runs Voter Protection for the Florida Democratic Party, will be in Stuart on Monday, August 26th, at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending, please email [email protected]

Blue Wave Coalition

On August 24^th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Titusville there will be a workshop on voter education. For tickets go to: [link removed]

DEMOCRATIC CLUB OF INDIAN RIVER

The August meeting of the Democratic Club will feature Alex Berrios of the Florida Democratic Party. Alex will provide an overview of state party initiatives for 2020 and his involvement as our region's Community Engagement Director. We want to be fired up and ready to go!

Please come join us at the Irish-American Society, 1314 20th St., Vero Beach, from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, Aug.13. A cash bar will be available.


GALA 2020 COMMITTEE

We are looking for volunteers to help our Gala 2020 Chair, Steve Lieberman, plan our Gala. If you like event planning and have some free time, please contact Steve at The Gala will be at the Moorings on February 23, 2020 and is always a great evening!


DINING WITH THE DEMS

Our next Dining with the Dems is on August 5^th at the Ona Luau Restaurant. Social Hour is from 6 – 7 p.m., Dinner is at 7 p.m. and the guest speaker is Sue Flak who is the Indian River County Recycling Coordinator. BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE

The Florida Young Democrats of Indian River are holding their Annual Back to School Supply Drive on August 4^th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kilted Mermaid (1937 Old Dixie Hwy, Vero Beach). All school supplies will be donated to Youth Guidance. Bring your supplies, stay for DragO, and eat some great food. Your school supply donation gets you 5, yes 5, free cards for DragO!


PRECINCT CAPTAINS

Don’t forget this month’s precinct task to reach out to your new precinct Democrats and encourage them to Vote by Mail. If you are a precinct captain, and need postcard stamps to send vote by mail reminders to your Democratic neighbors, please stop by the office and we will provide those stamps for you.
