John — Dianne Primavera here. Listen, it is absolutely outrageous to me that my granddaughters could grow up to have less freedom and fewer rights than I had.

And I refuse to just stand by and let that happen. We owe it to our kids, our grandkids, and each other to make sure that our rights are protected.

That’s why Governor Polis and I have taken action to ensure that women in Colorado keep the right to choose by codifying Roe v. Wade protections into state law. And it’s why we’re determined to defend many other fundamental freedoms that right-wing extremists are targeting nationally — including the right of LGBTQ+ Americans to live freely and marry who they love without fear of discrimination, and the right of every eligible voter to cast a ballot safely and securely.

But this next election will determine whether we can continue to defend these rights in Colorado.

In this race, Governor Polis and I are up against a right-wing opponent who is marketing herself as “the MAGA candidate” and promising to overturn Colorado’s law protecting a woman’s right to choose  if she’s elected Governor. John, I was only 23 years old when Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Court. I’m old enough to remember the outrageous obstacles that women faced to getting the care they needed before that decision was handed down.

It’s horrifying that the rights of millions of American women are now being dragged back to that time. But in Colorado at least, by working together and fighting hard for our fundamental freedoms, we’re going to make sure that doesn’t happen. We’re going to make sure our brightest days are still ahead.
