You’ve already heard the fantastic news that the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in their recent Dobbs v. Jackson Womens’ Health Organization ruling.
Overturning Roe is a huge win for the rights of the unborn and a huge win for our representative form of government. Now, state legislatures and governors can turn their attention to supporting single or at-risk mothers while also working to outlaw the barbaric practice of full-term abortion.
To nobody’s surprise, many Democrats have voiced their opposition to the Court’s ruling. However, their criticisms have a dangerous edge, as they amount to accusing the Court of being a collection of partisan Republicans.
Speaker Pelosi claimed Republicans have a “supermajority on the Supreme Court.” President Biden said “It was three justices named by one President, Donald Trump, who were the core of today's decision.”
The Supreme Court shouldn’t be a vehicle for either party’s political agenda, something many progressives have never understood.
Roe was an assault on the Constitutional federalist American system, and that’s why it had to go. But if given the chance, Democrats will codify Roe as federal law.
