This isn’t what we expected to see when the FiveThirtyEight 2022 election forecast came out: Our race is a 50/50 toss-up.

This is clearly worrisome news. There’s a 50/50 chance that our Republican opponent, Christine Drazan, wins the governor’s race this fall. Drazan is an anti-choice, pro-gun lobby, out-of-touch conservative who would follow the national Republican playbook to drag Oregon backwards.

Republicans see this race as a big pick up opportunity. The Republican Governors Association has already dropped $250,000 into Drazan’s campaign. And with Nate Silver declaring this race a toss-up, more money is sure to come flooding in.
