Happy Friday, John!
It's time for another Frontline Friday. And this time, we're featuring Congresswoman Lucy McBath from Georgia!
In 2012, Lucy lost her son in a senseless shooting. His tragic death inspired her to leave her 30-year-long career at Delta Airlines and become a gun control advocate, working with Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action.
But after the Parkland shooting, Lucy knew she had to do more. That's when she ran for Congress, taking on an NRA-backed candidate in a seat once held by Newt Gingrich. And she won!
In Congress, Lucy has worked to pass common-sense gun control laws, support our veterans, protect LGBTQ rights, defend Planned Parenthood, and invest in our infrastructure.
In 2018, Katie Hill beat the odds and flipped CA-25 blue for the first time in over two decades. Her message of systemic change resonated with voters, and though she's no longer in Congress, she's still fighting to make a difference. After stepping down from her seat, Katie founded HER Time to help elect candidates like her: women who are overlooked and underestimated. You can help HER Time support Democratic women up and down the ballot by donating now, and learn more about our mission here.
