Biden is Constitutionally Required to Stop the Invasion Happening at the Texas-Mexico Border Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened this week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Biden is Constitutionally Required to Stop the Invasion Happening at the Texas-Mexico Border This week, multiple Texas county officials declared the border crisis as an "invasion," something President Biden should have done a very long time ago. Since Biden took office, there have been 2.6 million encounters at our border, over 100,000 fatal fentanyl overdoses at the hands of the drug-traffickers, and numerous violent attacks on our brave border enforcement. It is abundantly clear that the United States is facing an invasion at our southern border. Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution, known as the Guarantee Clause, requires the Executive Branch to protect states from an invasion, but where is the Biden administration? The border crisis is rupturing Texas communities and taking lives—and our President is no where to be found. Back in May, I led 32 Republicans in sending a letter to President Biden demanding he uphold Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, I received no response from him or his administration officials. Joe Biden turned his back on the American people when he allowed dangerous criminals, drug-smugglers, and human traffickers to roam free through our communities. If he truly is the Commander-in-Chief of this nation, he would take every possible step to address this crisis and protect American lives and livelihoods—that starts by invoking the Guarantee Clause and putting an end to the invasion at our southern border. Sent a Letter to Elon Musk Asking Him to Work with Government to Strengthen Power Grids Across the Nation Recently, I sent a letter to Tesla CEO Elon Musk asking him to work with government officials to strengthen both Texas’ and the nation’s power grids and ensure their long-term resiliency and affordability as electricity consumption increases from the rise in popularity of electric vehicles (EVs). In February 2021, Texas felt the devastating effects of an unstable power grid when Winter Storm Uri left 69 percent of Texans without power and water services—resulting in at least 210 deaths and $130 billion in economic losses. Now, the Biden administration is spending billions to build a nationwide EV charging network – which will further strain our electrical grids. Rather than ostracize Mr. Musk for not pandering to his radical agenda, Biden should be working with him to ensure our nation’s power grids will be resilient enough to deal with America’s increased electricity demand as electric vehicles become more popular.
