Friends,
This week, I stood alongside medical providers, Planned Parenthood leaders and abortion advocates,
I made clear my commitment to protecting healthcare privacy in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away the constitutional right of every American to make their own decisions about their bodies.
We have begun to feel the impact of this decision in Washington.
In fact, I recently visited Planned Parenthood in Spokane and they have already seen a 60% increase in patients coming from Idaho.
Washington’s healthcare providers and patients are concerned about who will come after them legally, financially or as a vigilante.
It is critical that they be able to continue to provide reproductive choice without the concern that someone from another state, an attorney general or law enforcement officer is going to try to pursue them or their license.
We need to do everything we can to overturn these draconian restrictions. If you agree, will you add your name here?
I’ve reached out to the Department of Justice to call on them to do better to protect abortion providers and patients against criminal prosecution and against attacks from vigilante groups.
I’ll be in touch with their response – and if need be, we will consider pursuing national legislation if necessary to protect this healthcare delivery system.
We may need a new national standard to protect personal healthcare data and prevent patient data from being collected or misused while we continue to fight for reproductive freedom for all.
I am prepared to take action – are you?
Add your name here now.
Thank you,
Maria
