In this email, I’m going to ask you to
chip in $3 to power our campaign to keep IL-17 blue. We’re officially in the general election, so I hope you'll give me a moment to spell out why your support is so critical.
Last month, we advanced through the primary and I became the Democratic nominee in this race. Immediately after, the elections analysts at the Cook Political Report reminded us that our race is a TOSS UP that could literally decide House control. This is the second reputable source calling IL-17 a coin-flip, and it's another proof point that we’re headed for a tough general election contest.
Here's the truth:
We had a
very strong showing in the primary, and in an election year that's expected to be tough for Democrats, our campaign is a lone bright spot where we have a chance to stop the GOP takeover of Congress.
Our message is resonating, and that has national Republicans worried. That's why their flagship super PAC endorsed my opponent, Esther Joy King, and has already committed at least
$1.37 million in attack ads against me.
